Hi there,

We all love convenience — but at what cost?

A major new review in The BMJ (2024), involving over 10 million people, has revealed that ultra-processed foods (UPFs) may do more than hurt your physical health — they could be directly linked to anxiety, depression, and poor sleep.

Here’s what you need to know 👇.

🔍 What are ultra-processed foods?
They’re more than just junk food. We’re talking about:
– Packaged snacks & cereals
– Soft drinks & flavored yogurts
– Instant meals & processed meats
– Anything with long ingredient lists and artificial additives

🧠 The mental health connection:
People who consume more UPFs were found to have significantly higher risks of anxiety and depression.
Researchers point to:
Gut-brain disruption from additives
Blood sugar swings
Low nutrient density
Chronic inflammation

Even just a 10% increase in daily UPF intake was enough to raise mental health risks.

What to do instead:
– Cook more with whole ingredients
– Limit packaged, ready-to-eat foods
– Swap soda for water or herbal tea
– Focus on fiber, healthy fats, and fermented foods
At ENHNCE, we believe small steps = big change.
Start by cutting one ultra-processed item this week — and feel the difference in your mood and energy.
